Five Education is seeking a compassionate and adaptable Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist secondary school in North Bristol. The school supports students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Many pupils also have complex medical needs, physical disabilities, autism and sensory impairments.

The school provides a calm, respectful and person-centred environment where students are supported to communicate, engage and thrive. Staff work closely with therapists and healthcare professionals to ensure every young person receives holistic and tailored support.





The Role

You will be supporting a class of secondary-aged pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The curriculum is highly personalised and delivered at pre-formal and semi-formal levels. You will assist in delivering multi-sensory lessons that focus on communication, interaction, physical development and life skills.

This role involves close collaboration with a skilled team of teachers, other teaching assistants and health professionals to implement EHCP targets and support pupils with all aspects of their care, including personal care routines.

You should be confident using alternative communication methods (such as PECS, Makaton or eye gaze technology) or be open to learning. A key part of the role is creating a nurturing, inclusive classroom where all students can flourish, whatever their starting point.






Essential Criteria

Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs

Willingness to support pupils with personal care needs

Proficient in ICT

Positive, adaptable and empathetic approach

Eligible to work in the UK

Able to provide relevant references and complete DBS/police checks if required*

*Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
