Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEN Provision (ASC Focus)Location: BS4, Bristol
Contract: Full-time

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and nurturing SEN provision in the BS4 area. This role involves working with pupils from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4, all of whom have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
You will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, delivering tailored interventions, and helping pupils develop both academically and socially in a structured and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
Lead small group and whole-class sessions when required
Support pupils with ASC to access the curriculum in a meaningful and engaging way
Use specialist strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and external professionals
Monitor pupil progress and contribute to assessments and reports
Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Holds HLTA status or has equivalent relevant experience
Has proven experience working with children or young people with ASC
Has a good understanding of SEN strategies, including differentiation and behaviour support
Is confident leading activities and supporting across KS1–KS4
Demonstrates patience, resilience, and a calm, adaptable approach
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
Is committed to supporting pupils’ individual needs and celebrating progress

Safeguarding Statement
This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Essential Criteria:
- Able to work 5 days a week (term time only), Monday-Friday 8:30-15:30
- Right to work in the UK - we CANNOT accept sponsorship or a skilled worker visa
- Minimum two recent references, covering the last two years
- Up-to-date DBS/police check, or be willing to obtain one*
*Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
