Earlier this month, Five Education’s Brett and Matthew visited Kerry Bidewell, Development Manager at Plymouth Children in Poverty (PCiP), at their offices in Plymouth Science Park. Following a productive meeting, we are thrilled to announce that Five Education is now an official sponsor of PCiP — with additional matched funding generously supported by Dean at Team Factors.

PCiP is a collaborative initiative working to eliminate the social injustice, poor health, and hardship caused by child poverty in Plymouth. By bringing together public, private, and third-sector organisations, PCiP aims to ensure every child in the city has a fair chance at a healthy, fulfilling start in life.

“The issue of children living in poverty in Plymouth is both significant and worsening. The Plymouth Fairness Commission once described a ‘Tale of Two Cities’, where a child’s life outcomes could be predicted based on the ward they were born into. Today, some areas still see child poverty rates above 35% — this cannot be right. PCiP was born from a desire for greater collaboration between private, public, and charitable sectors, working together to share responsibility in eradicating child poverty across the city.” – PCiP
